The WMHL Executive  would like to wish all of our members a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and hope that 2021 will be a much better year than 2020. Stay safe everyone and enjoy the holiday season!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2020-2021 Season is Cancelled

To our WMHL Members, as advised in our last update a few months back, the WMHL executive have been monitoring the COVID situation and have been in ongoing communication with the town of Whitby to keep updated on the latest ‘Return to Play’ plans and protocols.  As we’ve said in previous updates, our #1 priority is the health and safety of our members, and to avoid and minimize risks due to Covid 19 spread.  The executive met this past week and reviewed the Towns protocols which include very specific rules that must be followed, here are the key ones that are most applicable to our league.
  • No league can have more then 50 members to a group/cohort and they cannot play outside of that group. (we would have to divide the league up)
  • Come to the arena partially dressed and meet as a group 10 minutes before gametime before being escorted in.
  • Every 2nd group would not have access to the dressing rooms to allow for cleaning in between, so would need to complete dressing in the stands
  • Every group must leave the ice pad/dressing rooms 10 minutes after leaving the ice
  • No showers/water, 1 washroom would be designated
  • Each group must have a contact tracer
  • Ice period would commence in January and end at the end of March. (we would need approximately 2 months to prepare)
  • Games would be played 4 on 4, no high fiving or hand shaking, etc

Factoring in all of the above, WMHL's 'Spirit of the League' , and most importantly the health and safety of our members and their family and friends, the executive has decided to cancel the 2020 / 2021 season, and start preparing for the 2021 / 2022 season. Anyone who has paid their registration fee's, will be credited back in the coming weeks. Our treasurer Ron Graham will contact you directly.
We will send an update on our next AGM, typically scheduled in late Feb/early March, but at this point, TBD. We will send an update in Feb 2021.

Stay safe !
